At Xianggang Road Metro Station, excavators are digging soil from a depth of 30 meters underground.

The foundation pit excavation at Xianggang Road Station of Wuhan Metro Line 3, totaling 260,000 cubic meters of earthwork, will be completed before November 1. The excavation volume is equivalent to a 13-story building on a standard football field. Traffic on Jianshe Avenue (from Gaoxiong Road to Sanyanqiao) is expected to be restored by the end of next year at the latest.

Up to now, the excavated section is 290 meters long, with the last section of less than 50 meters still under operation. The excavation work has lasted nearly 4 months and is now in the final stage. The deepest excavation of the station has reached 31 meters.

Earthwork excavation is the most important part of the entire project. The future main structure of the station will be built within the excavated foundation pit, allowing construction to proceed unimpeded. The construction team will strive to complete the main structures of the stations for Lines 3 and 7 by mid-March next year. With the opening of Line 3 at the end of next year, Xianggang Road Station will initially open 4 entrances, and eventually a total of 8 entrances, distributed along Jianshe Avenue, Xianggang Road, and Aomen Road.

Xianggang Road Metro Station is a three-line interchange station for Wuhan Metro Lines 3, 6, and 7. It is also the largest single metro station in Wuhan and the only three-line interchange station in the city. The total construction area for Lines 3 and 7 is 36,300 square meters, with an average excavation depth of 28.5 meters. The station is arranged along Jianshe Avenue and is an underground three-level staggered platform station, with a transfer method similar to that of Hongshan Square Station. The station for Line 6 has a total construction area of 17,200 square meters, arranged along Xianggang Road, and is an underground one-level side-platform station; transferring to Lines 3 and 7 requires going up and down stairs. The tracks of Lines 3 and 7 intersect with those of Line 6 in a "cross" shape, so the main structure of the station must be built all at once.

The entire project at this station is divided into three phases: Phase I is the external station hall for Line 6, which has been completed; Phase II is the main structure for Lines 3 and 7, which is under construction; Phase III is the main structure for Line 6.
