1) The filling and compaction requirements for replacement foundation shall be the same as those for earthwork subgrade in Section 4.2.
2) Sand cushion: The specification and quality of sand must comply with design requirements and code provisions; water shall be sprinkled appropriately and compaction shall be carried out in layers; the width of the sand cushion shall extend 0.5–1.0 m beyond the subgrade toe on each side, with both ends protected by rubble masonry; the thickness of the sand cushion and the filter layer laid on it shall comply with design requirements.
3) Counterweight berms: The filling material, berm height and width shall comply with design requirements, and the degree of compaction shall not be less than 90%.
4) Bagged sand wells and plastic drainage boards: The specification and quality of sand, the quality of sand bag fabric and the quality of plastic drainage boards must meet requirements; the sand bags and plastic drainage boards shall not twist, break or similar during sinking; the elevation of the well (board) bottom must comply with design requirements, and the top must extend into the sand cushion as required by the code.
5) Crushed stone piles: The crushed stone material shall comply with design requirements; the current and the holding time of the vibrator shall be strictly controlled according to the test pile results; crushed stone shall be added in batches, with attention paid to the compaction and densification effect, to prevent "broken piles" or "necked piles".
6) Sand piles: The sand material shall comply with specified requirements; the moisture content of the sand shall be reasonably determined according to the pile-forming method; the pile body shall be ensured to be continuous and dense.
7) Dry jet mixing piles: The cement shall comply with design requirements; construction shall be carried out according to the technical parameters determined by pile-forming tests; the powder injection time, powder stop time and cement injection amount shall be strictly controlled, powder injection shall not be interrupted, and the length of the dry jet mixing pile shall be ensured; the upper part of the pile body must be subjected to secondary mixing to ensure pile quality; if insufficient powder injection is found, the entire pile shall be re-driven; if powder injection is interrupted, the overlapping section of the re-driven hole shall be greater than 1 m.
8) For embankments on soft soil foundations, settlement observation and stability observation shall be carried out during construction, and necessary adjustments shall be made to the embankment filling rate and preloading period based on the observation results.
