Today, China's first cross-river metro connecting two provinces, the Ninghe Intercity Rail Transit, began construction in Pukou District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. This is China's first newly built metro project crossing the Yangtze River to link two provinces.
At 8:18 a.m., the weather in Nanjing, Jiangsu was fine with a crisp autumn breeze. At the construction site of the Project Management Department for Section 12 of the Jiangbei Phase I Project of the Ning (Nanjing) and (He County, Anhui) Rail Transit (Metro), banners were eye-catching, colored flags fluttered, and firecrackers resounded. The pile foundation for Pier No. 52 was officially drilled, successfully driving the first pile, marking the official start of construction of China's first cross-river metro connecting two provinces.
It is understood that the newly built Jiangbei Phase I Project of the Ning (Nanjing) and (He County, Anhui) Rail Transit (Metro) (also known as Ninghe Intercity) starts from Nanjing South Railway Station in Yuhuatai District, Nanjing, in the east, passes through Longxi Road, Chunjiang Road, Huaxin Road, etc., crosses the concentrated residential area in the south of the city, and sets up Jingming Jiayuan Station, Tiexinqiao Station, Chunjiang Road Station, and Huaxin Road Station along the way. It then enters the Hexi area, runs along Youyi Road Station, Jiangdong South Road Station, and Huaihe Road Station, and sets up Youfangqiao Station, Zhonghe Street Station, Huanghe Road Station, Tianhe Road Station, and Xingeng Street Station. Then it goes under the Qinhuai New River, transitions from underground to elevated, and sets up Tianbao Road Station. Then it turns into Longzang Avenue and sets up Shengtaiyuan Station. It uses the reserved passages on both sides of the Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge of the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, a national artery already in operation, to cross the Yangtze River and enter Jiangbei. The Jiangbei section has a total of Zhushi Road Station, Binjiang Village Station, Buyue Road Station, Linzhong Road Station, Lindong Station, Jingliu Road Station, and temporarily ends at Huangli Station. The total length of the line is 36.26 kilometers, with 19 stations, including 10 underground stations and 8 elevated stations.
Huangli Station reserves space for future Phase II extension to He County, Anhui. After completion and opening, it will be an important rapid rail transit corridor from Nanjing, Jiangsu to He County, Anhui, and an important part of the Nanjing metropolitan area rail transit network, playing a far-reaching significance in boosting passenger flow between Jiangsu and Anhui provinces.
The Ninghe Intercity Project Management Department of China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. undertakes the construction task of Section 12 of the Jiangbei Phase I Project of Ninghe Intercity Rail Transit. The construction section is 4.6 kilometers long, entirely elevated, with two stations. To fully prepare for the project start in advance, they overcame difficulties, took the initiative, coordinated with multiple parties, and quickly intervened in the investigation of rivers, ditches, and canals along the "red line" of construction land, carried out land acquisition and demolition, surveying and setting out, and strongly promoted the construction progress of "three connections and one leveling" (access roads, electricity, water, and site leveling), providing a guarantee for the project start.
