In order to help the design and construction units of the Lanzhou New Area Comprehensive Bonded Zone quickly understand the geological conditions of the zone, so that the design unit can promptly complete foundation type selection and guide the construction unit in scientifically and rationally preparing construction plans, on August 25 the Preparatory Committee of the Lanzhou New Area Comprehensive Bonded Zone, together with Gansu Jingwei Construction Supervision Consulting Co., Ltd., organized the "Lanzhou New Area Comprehensive Bonded Zone Project Foundation Engineering Technical Exchange Meeting" at the on-site headquarters.

The meeting specially invited Gansu geotechnical engineering experts Wang Guolie and Ma Angang to conduct technical exchange and analysis on the foundations in Lanzhou New Area. Through exchange and discussion, it was concluded that the geotechnical engineering geology of the new area is dominated by alternating layers of thick collapsible loess and sand, and the project area requires extensive excavation and filling. The groundwater level in the new area is relatively deep, and the phreatic water is mainly recharged by surface water and atmospheric precipitation. Due to the influence of human activities, the groundwater has a tendency to rise, and the groundwater and soil are corrosive to concrete and to the steel reinforcement in concrete members. In view of such geotechnical engineering geology, foundation treatment in the New Area Comprehensive Bonded Zone should mainly adopt combined foundation treatment methods of compaction by extrusion, dynamic compaction, and compaction by densification.
