On the morning of August 28, at Xiniuling in Jintian Village, Jintian Town, Guiping City, amid waves of applause and the sound of firecrackers, 2 excavators, 2 bulldozers and 4 transport trucks moved onto the site to begin work, announcing the official start of the foundation works for the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Jintian Uprising Museum and marking the formal launch of the construction of the Jintian Uprising Site Red Tourism Classic Scenic Area project.

　　It is understood that the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Jintian Uprising was a major historical event with worldwide influence that took place in Jintian Village. It is a key red tourism resource of the country and a patriotism education base of the autonomous region. The Jintian Uprising site was designated by the State Council in 1961 as one of the first batch of key cultural relics protection units in the country, was included in 2011 in the second-phase list of national red tourism classic scenic areas, and is one of the 20 major tourism projects to be advanced under the guidance of autonomous region leaders as determined at the 2013 Guangxi Tourism Development Conference. It is also one of the 30 major projects in the Guigang Municipal Government's 2014 "Three-Year Target Task Action Plan." The project has an initial planned investment of 2.627 billion yuan. Centered on the Jintian Uprising site, it extends east to Jiangkou Town and west to Dongwangchong in Zijing Town, covering an area of 20.6 square kilometers, with a controlled planning area of 12 square kilometers. The goal is to build a national 5A-level red tourism classic scenic area. The first phase of the scenic area project currently under development and construction has a planned investment of 110 million yuan, covers about 200 mu, and has a building area of more than 6,700 square meters. It includes the museum, Tianwang Square, a parking lot and the southern main gate entrance scenic area, among other facilities. The construction period is two years, and the museum will open and begin operation in 2016.
