       Yesterday, entrusted by the Fuzhou Municipal Government, the Office of the Fuzhou Executive Committee for the Youth Games delivered a report on the preparations for the First National Youth Games at the 21st meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th Fuzhou Municipal People's Congress.

       At present, venue construction and renovation are generally proceeding smoothly. As the main competition area of the Youth Games, Fuzhou, in accordance with the requirements of "use existing venues without modification, renovate rather than build new ones, scientific construction, and long-term consideration," needs to build new or renovate and upgrade 15 sports venues and 1 athletes' village.

       The design of sports venue construction and renovation fully takes into account public fitness needs, post-game use, and commercial development functions. The athletes' village is built entirely on a commercial basis, relying on commercial housing development; after the Youth Games, the athletes' village will be sold as commercial housing. Currently, new venues are successively being topped out and entering the construction stages of interior decoration and outdoor training grounds. The renovation of Fuqing City Gymnasium and Changle City Gymnasium has been basically completed, and other renovation venues have also started renovation work.

       Next, the organizing committee will increase coordination and supervision of sports venue construction, urge all venues to quickly assemble operation teams, and strive to meet the requirements for organizing test events by April 2015. It will strengthen supervision of road network construction and environmental improvement projects around the Haixia Olympic Sports Center, accelerate the implementation of landscaping renovation and inland river improvement, and ensure that all road network construction projects are completed by April 2015.
