The top of the museum uses electric sun-shading louvers to utilize natural daylight, saving energy and protecting the environment; the ground of the central plaza uses PC precast concrete panels, a technique that is the first of its kind in China, providing a smoother, more polished, and more durable surface.
Yesterday, it was learned from the Changsha Municipal Facilities Construction Administration Bureau that the interior renovation of the museum and library of the "Two Pavilions and One Hall" has entered the critical final stage, and ground paving has begun on the central plaza. It is expected that by October, the library, museum, landscape tower, and landscaping will be basically completed, while the concert hall is scheduled for completion in October next year.
In the northern part of the delta where the Liuyang River and the Xiang River meet, the "Two Pavilions and One Hall" complex, consisting of the museum, library, concert hall, and landscape tower, rises from the earth like huge boulders washed out by a river. "The library and museum are now undergoing interior finishing work and are scheduled for completion in October," said a relevant official of the Municipal Facilities Construction Administration Bureau yesterday, who took reporters from the 38.85-meter pedestrian level into the museum. Most of the walls and columns inside have been finished, and the rustic, elegant earth-gray color matches the museum's calm and refined character.
The vast space has no lights on, yet the light is very abundant. The official told reporters that the top of the museum uses electric sun-shading louvers to utilize natural daylight, so basically no lights are needed during the day, saving energy and protecting the environment.
The buildings of the "Two Pavilions and One Hall" together enclose and form the central plaza. In the future, visitors will be able to enter the plaza at the 33-meter level from the elevated level at 38.85 meters via several stairways around the plaza. Ground paving is currently underway on the plaza. Notably, the approximately 2,000 PC precast concrete panels used on the ground of the central plaza were custom-made by the manufacturer for the "Two Pavilions and One Hall." This production technique requires extremely high precision and is the first of its kind in China; the paved ground has greater flatness, smoothness, and durability. It is expected that by October, the central plaza will complete ground paving and landscaping and be finished together with the museum and library.
