In October next year, another landmark building will rise in Hefei's Binhu New Area. Currently, the Anhui Provincial Urban and Rural Planning Exhibition Hall and Hefei Planning Exhibition Hall, a major cultural project of Anhui Province, has officially begun construction. According to the design plan, the various halls are connected by a traditional Huizhou-style ancient village, and after completion, visitors will be able to appreciate the historic transformation of urban and rural construction in Anhui.
Anhui Provincial Urban and Rural Planning Exhibition Hall
According to the Hefei Key Engineering Construction Management Bureau, the project is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Yungu Road and Huanhu North Road in Binhu New Area, facing Chaohu Lake to the south and adjacent to the Memorial Hall of the Crossing the Yangtze Campaign to the west. The total construction area is about 82,000 square meters (30,000 square meters underground and 52,000 square meters above ground), with a height of 21 meters. It includes three building blocks: from east to west, the Hefei Planning Exhibition Hall, the Anhui Provincial Planning Exhibition Hall, and the 15 Prefecture-level Cities Planning Exhibition Hall. Among them, the provincial hall and the 15 prefecture-level cities hall have a construction area of about 50,000 square meters, and the Hefei hall is about 32,000 square meters.
In terms of design, the halls cleverly combine traditional Huizhou-style ancient architecture with modern architecture. The outer perimeter of the entire building is circular, and the inner edges of the three building blocks are designed in an irregular "sawtooth" shape. Viewed from above, it looks like a complete circle evolved and decomposed into three fan-shaped buildings. The individual blocks are organically connected by gate towers, pavilions, memorial archways, water features, and other traditional Huizhou-style ancient village landscapes, highlighting the unique cultural charm of Huizhou architecture.
As a future landmark building of Binhu New Area, the project is scheduled to be completed in October 2015. After completion, the halls will use high-tech means such as digital models and projections to display, in an all-round and multi-angle manner, the profound changes in urban and rural construction and the achievements of urban and rural development in our province, becoming an important window for showcasing urban planning and construction.
