Recently, XCMG's independently developed XTR260 cantilever tunneling machine, designed to meet the needs of mountain tunnel construction, successfully rolled off the production line, marking XCMG's official entry into the field of mountain tunnel construction.

As the country vigorously plans highway, railway and urban rail transit networks, especially strengthening transportation infrastructure construction in mountainous areas such as the southwest region, mountain tunnel projects are increasing day by day. However, the traditional drill-and-blast method is dangerous, has uncontrollable cross-section dimensions, high costs and low efficiency, and cannot meet the requirements of tunnel construction safety and low-cost, high-efficiency needs. In 2013, XCMG boldly applied coal mine roadheaders to the field of tunnel construction and developed hard rock roadheaders suitable for rock excavation, seizing market opportunities. However, the application of hard rock roadheaders in tunnel construction has limitations in terms of cutting range, material loading and transport, vehicle structure and high-voltage power supply, and the cutting height is relatively small.

Through domestic and international market research, XCMG extensively understood customer needs, planned research and development, tackled key difficulties, and mastered core technologies such as long-span cutting arms, hard rock cutting heads and automatic cable reels. Recently, it achieved the successful rollout of the XTR260 cantilever tunneling machine. As China's first cantilever roadheader specifically used for tunnel construction, it features a large positioning cutting area and a cutting height of more than 7.1 meters. For large-section mountain tunnels, the section height can be cut in place in one pass without layered construction; the cut section shape is flexible and the dimensions are controllable. It has the characteristics of a large excavation range, strong rock-breaking capability, low construction cost and high construction efficiency. It will effectively improve the quality and efficiency of tunnel construction, promote the transformation of domestic tunnel construction modes, and fill the gap in domestic cantilever tunnel boring machines.
