President Zheng Yijun stressed at the North China and Northeast China Eight Provinces, Municipalities and Regions Construction Industry Associations (Federations) Work Exchange Meeting:
　　Clarify Industry Development Goals and Advance the Modernization of the Construction Industry

On May 22, the North China and Northeast China Eight Provinces, Municipalities and Regions Construction Industry Associations (Federations) Work Exchange Meeting, hosted by the Beijing Construction Industry Federation, was held in Beijing. Zheng Yijun, President of the China Construction Industry Association, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Li Rongqing, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; Wu Tao, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Construction Industry Association; Luan Decheng, President of the Beijing Construction Industry Federation; and more than 60 presidents, secretaries-general and enterprise representatives from construction industry associations (federations) in the eight provinces, municipalities and regions attended the meeting.
　　In his speech, President Zheng Yijun elaborated on the goals, paths and priorities of “transforming the development mode of the construction industry and achieving sustainable development.”
　　First, the macro goal of transforming the development mode of the construction industry and achieving sustainable development is to build the construction industry into a modern sector with a high level of technology and management, a low-carbon sector that coexists harmoniously with the environment, a sector that makes a greater contribution to the national economy and social development, and a sector with strong public credibility that consciously fulfills its social responsibilities. At the same time, starting from reality, quantitative indicators such as labor productivity, profit margin on output value, carbon emission indicators and the training level of skilled workers should be set.
　　Second, the path to transforming the development mode of the construction industry and achieving sustainable development is to vigorously advance the modernization of the construction industry. Concepts such as construction industrialization and construction industralization are inaccurate and unscientific; the appropriate description of transforming the development mode of the construction industry should be the modernization of the construction industry. The modernization of the construction industry includes at least four aspects: first, the upgrading and replacement of building materials; second, the transformation of construction methods; third, the extensive application of information technology; and fourth, the improvement of the quality of employees across the entire industry.
　　Third, the priorities for transforming the development mode of the construction industry and achieving sustainable development are construction quality and vocational skills training for migrant workers.
　　At the meeting, representatives of local construction industry associations (federations) and construction enterprises spoke one after another to introduce their experience.
