Safety Operation Regulations for Diesel Hammer Pile Drivers

1. There should be no high-voltage lines within the pile driver operation area. The operation area should have obvious signs or fences, and unauthorized personnel must not enter. During the pile hammer driving process, the operator must monitor from a distance of more than 5 m from the center of the pile hammer.

2. The diesel pile hammer should use fuel oil with the specified mixing ratio. Before operation, the fuel tank should be filled to full, and the fuel outlet valve should be opened.

3. Before operation, the bleed screw plug should be opened to discharge air from the oil circuit, and the fuel pump should be inspected and tested. The fuel injection condition should be observed through the cleaning hole, and adjustments should be made if any abnormality is found.

4. Before operation, the upper piston should be lifted above the upper cylinder using the hoisting gear, the oil chamber plug should be opened, and lubricating oil should be filled to full as specified. For piles with automatic lubrication, a dedicated oil pump should be used to add a certain amount of lubricating oil to the lubrication pipeline, and air should be expelled from the pipeline.

5. For the pile hammer to be started, 0.5 L of lubricating oil should be injected around the upper piston in advance, and a certain amount of lubricating oil should be added to the lower piston with a grease gun.

6. All fastening bolts should be checked, with key spot checks on the fixing bolts of the guide plate. Operation must not be carried out when bolts are loose or missing.

7. The working mechanisms of the hoisting gear should be checked and confirmed to be safe and reliable, and the contact line between the lifting hook and the upper piston should be between 5—10 mm.

8. After the pile hammer is lifted and disengaged from the anvil block, its downward sliding length should not exceed 200 mm; if it exceeds this, the pile cap rope fastening should be adjusted.

9. The wear clearance of the guide plate should be checked. When the clearance exceeds 7 mm, it should be replaced.

10. The buffer rubber pad should be checked. When the contact surface between the drill seat and the rubber pad is less than 2/3 of the original area, or when the clearance between the lower cylinder flange and the drill seat is less than 7 mm, the rubber pad should be replaced.

11. For water-cooled iron hammers, the water tank should be filled with water. Soft water must be used for cooling water. Warm water should be added in winter.

12. Before starting the pile hammer, the pile hammer, pile cap, and pile should be on the same axis, and eccentric pile driving is not allowed.

13. When starting the pile hammer in soft soil layers with a large pile penetration rate, the throttle should first be closed for cold driving, and the throttle should be opened to start the pile hammer only after the penetration per blow is less than 100 mm.

14. After the pile is inserted, the verticality of the pile should be corrected promptly. When the pile has penetrated more than 3 m into the soil, it is strictly prohibited to use the pile driver's travel to correct the pile's inclination.
