Huang Yi stated that the construction sector is currently an industry with a high incidence of accidents. Construction accidents are mainly concentrated in the following areas: first, collapses, including collapses of scaffolding and tower cranes, as well as collapses at some deep foundation pits. Second, falls from heights, because workers do not wear safety helmets and are injured by falling objects. Third, other accidents caused by violations of regulations and rules during construction. In addition, in the construction sector, illegal subcontracting allows construction teams without qualifications to enter the construction industry, and accidents caused by this have also occurred repeatedly.

Huang Yi emphasized that in response to these problems, we, together with relevant construction and building departments, have repeatedly made arrangements for special rectification of safety in the construction sector and organized special inspections, especially on how to prevent accidents in construction during high-temperature and rainy seasons and flood seasons and ensure construction safety during flood seasons. Recently, we have also made special arrangements and organized 16 special supervision teams to conduct special inspections of work safety during the flood season. One item is whether various hidden safety hazards in construction projects in the construction sector are being seriously investigated and addressed, and whether certain safety precaution measures in the construction sector are being earnestly implemented. This is a key part of this supervision. The construction sector covers a broad area, and the construction workforce numbers 40 million people working at various construction sites every day. How to strengthen safety training for construction personnel, especially safety training for migrant workers, is also an important task we face.
