Recently, Shanghai Urban Construction Municipal Group successfully drove a slurry balance pipe-jacking machine with an outer diameter of 4.64 meters through the maglev pile cap foundation and the Pudong Airport aviation fuel pipeline, once again setting a new record for domestic pipe-jacking projects.
　　According to reports, during the construction of Section SST2.4 of the Shanghai Sewage Treatment Bailonggang Area South Line Transmission Trunk Improvement Project (East Section Transmission Trunk), Shanghai Urban Construction Municipal Group customized for the project a domestically pioneering and internationally leading slurry balance pipe-jacking machine with an outer diameter of 4.64 meters and domestically largest-diameter 4-meter high-precision reinforced concrete pipes.
　　According to Yang Yi, project manager of Shanghai Urban Construction Municipal Group, the settlement control requirements for this crossing were extremely strict, with horizontal and lateral maximum displacement to be controlled within 2 millimeters. In addition, the maglev pile cap foundation and the aviation fuel pipeline are relatively close to each other, so immediately after completing the crossing beneath the maglev, correction had to be made for crossing the aviation fuel pipeline.
　　At the construction site, in order to reduce the impact on the maglev pile caps and supporting pile foundations during construction, the project department installed "eyes" all over the involved pile foundations. One settlement monitoring hole was arranged on the side of each pile cap, with a depth of 20 meters, totaling 3 locations; one settlement monitoring point was arranged on the side of each supporting column, totaling 6 locations. When the pipe jacking passed beneath them, real-time adjustments were made based on settlement monitoring data. The route of the two consecutive crossings was about 150 meters. Data from third-party monitoring showed that since the pipe jacking completed the crossings, the maglev pile caps and aviation fuel pipeline have remained safe and sound.
