The Second Session of the 12th National People's Congress opened at the Great Hall of the People on the morning of the 5th. Li Keqiang delivered the government work report on behalf of the new central government. Reviewing the work of 2013, Li Keqiang pointed out that China's high-speed railway operating mileage has reached 11,000 kilometers, ranking first in the world.

 

Li Keqiang pointed out that infrastructure construction has been strengthened. The first phase of the eastern route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project was opened to water ahead of schedule, and the main works of the first phase of the central route were completed on schedule. Urban infrastructure such as underground pipe networks was advanced. Oil, gas and power transmission and distribution networks were expanded. The share of electricity generated from non-fossil energy reached 22.3%. Construction of civil aviation, water transport, information and postal networks was strengthened. The operating mileage of railways and expressways both exceeded 100,000 kilometers, of which high-speed railway operating mileage reached 11,000 kilometers, ranking first in the world.
