On February 26, four Bulgarian ministries and commissions held a joint meeting and released their 2014-2020 development plans. Bulgarian Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Papazov said that from 2014 to 2020, Bulgaria's transport and transport infrastructure construction will absorb about 1.9 billion euros in total from EU funds and Bulgarian state funds, of which more than 1.3 billion euros will be used for road and railway infrastructure construction.
Papazov said that in railway construction, Bulgaria will rebuild lines such as Ruse—Varna, Plovdiv—Burgas, Karnobat—Sindel, and Sofia—Septemvri, and upgrade and renovate lines such as Vidin—Medkovets and Sofia—Dragoman. The reconstruction and renewal of these sections will further improve Bulgaria's interconnectivity with neighboring countries such as Greece, Turkey, and Romania, and improve transport between ports such as Ruse, Varna, and Burgas.
Papazov also said that the remaining funds will mainly be used to enhance passenger and freight intermodal transport capacity and develop sustainable urban transport, including building the Sofia metro and constructing an intermodal terminal at the Port of Ruse. At the same time, more than 77 million euros will be invested in upgrading shipping and civil aviation information systems.
Because Chinese construction machinery enterprises have performed outstandingly overseas and are widely recognized internationally. According to the editor of China Construction Machinery Business Network, at the "2013 Chongqing-Bulgaria Investment and Trade Promotion Conference," the Speaker of the Bulgarian National Assembly once extended an "olive branch," sincerely inviting Chongqing enterprises to participate in cooperation in Bulgaria in fields such as infrastructure, agriculture, environmental protection, culture, and tourism.
Mikhail Mikov, Speaker of the Bulgarian National Assembly, said that Chongqing has a solid manufacturing base, and at the same time, enterprises have a strong willingness to enter overseas markets, leaving great room for cooperation with Bulgaria in agriculture, environmental protection, culture, tourism infrastructure construction, and other fields. He hopes that Chongqing enterprises can also cooperate on projects such as expressway construction, and welcomes active participation by Chongqing enterprises.
In fact, Chinese construction machinery enterprises are generally optimistic about the development of overseas infrastructure markets. Zhao Xiang, Vice President of China Overseas Engineering Co., Ltd., once said: "In fact, we believe that among the ten countries that joined the EU five years ago, Poland has the broadest market prospects. We are also interested in infrastructure projects in Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary. We will also invest in Ukraine."
