"Winning four national science and technology awards is extremely precious to Sany, and it has once again ignited our entrepreneurial passion." Wu Likun, General Manager of Sany Equipment, said that the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class) being granted to Sany's crawler crane represents encouragement and recognition from the state and the industry for Sany Equipment. This is the first time the award has gone to the crawler crane industry, and it is also the highest honor the state has bestowed on the industry.

After a decade of accumulation and development, "Made in China" crawler cranes, represented by Sany, are now able to compete on the international market with first-class global brands such as Liebherr and Manitowoc. Highly recognized by international customers, Sany crawler cranes have entered the "international first-class ranks," and major lifting groups in the UK, Belgium, North America and other countries and regions are particularly fond of Sany products.

One obvious fact is that since the launch of the "8" series crawler cranes for the high-end market in 2011, the series quickly gained traction, achieving nearly RMB 300 million in sales in Germany, Australia and the United States.

"This achievement is due not only to Sany's enduring ambition of 'serving the country through industry,' but also to breakthroughs in three areas," Wu Likun said. The first is the breakthrough in the products themselves: it took Sany Equipment only five or six years to go from a 1,000-tonne-class crawler crane to a 3,600-tonne-class crawler crane, which is rare in the industry and fully demonstrates Sany's determination to serve the country through industry. At present, Sany crawler cranes have completely replaced imports.

The second is the breakthrough in core technologies. Sany not only has top domestic R&D talent but has also assembled the industry's best Sino-foreign joint R&D team, hiring many foreign experts. Led by this multinational R&D team, Sany crawler cranes have continuously advanced the process of "centralized production and improved production efficiency," and the team has also brought entirely new R&D concepts.

Third, Sany Equipment has inherited the Group's innovative DNA and continues to push beyond its own limits in innovation capability. "Take the 3,600-tonne crawler crane as an example: its core value is concentrated in lifting technology and large-tonnage manufacturing technology. Its design adopts digital prototype simulation technology, and all components have fully passed X-ray inspection," Wu Likun told the reporter. The 3,600-tonne crawler crane has many innovations and incorporates numerous improvements based on the original 2,000- and 3,000-tonne-class products. Among comparable products, Sany was the earliest to begin R&D and the earliest to roll out this product.

Speaking about Sany Equipment's future development plans, Wu Likun stressed: "I hope the company will take this National Science and Technology Award as an opportunity and, relying on Sany's three core competitiveness pillars of R&D, manufacturing and service, build the Sany Huzhou Industrial Park into a top-three crawler crane production base in the world, making the company an enterprise highly admired and respected by customers worldwide. At the same time, in line with market trends, Sany Equipment will focus on developing large crawler cranes and strive to become a mainstream supplier of excellent crawler cranes and their derivative products as well as a provider of integrated lifting solutions."
