On February 11, it was learned that the Abu Dhabi International Airport project—the largest airport under construction in the Middle East—completed the hoisting of the first triangular truss arch ARCH8 of its steel structure works ahead of schedule. The roof and internal steel structure works of the project's central hall were jointly undertaken by China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East and China Construction Steel Structure Co., Ltd.

　　The main roof steel structure of the Abu Dhabi airport project is primarily supported vertically by 18 arched trusses. The structural form is extremely complex, and the design and calculation of the joints are highly difficult. The maximum span is 180 meters, the largest span of an unsupported dome in the world. The first completed triangular truss arch is the 8th one in the middle section, divided into 9 segments and featuring a “blooming in the middle with symmetry on both sides” pattern. Due to the enormous hoisting difficulty, the entire process was carried out jointly by two 80T truck cranes and two walking mobile tower cranes.
