Fan Jianguo 

As chief engineer of the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway project and technical lead for survey and design of the Harbin-Dalian Passenger Dedicated Line, Fan Jianguo led the research and formulation of high-speed intercity railway standards, route alignment schemes, ballastless track forms, regional land subsidence control, and a series of key technologies addressing the challenges of building high-speed railways in severe cold regions, such as extreme low temperatures and frost heave. He also served as head of research for major projects of the former Ministry of Railways, including "Research on Complete Sets of Civil Engineering Technology for the Beijing-Tianjin High-Speed Intercity Railway," "Comprehensive Technical Research on Foundation Engineering for the Harbin-Dalian Railway Passenger Dedicated Line," and "Research on the Adaptability of Chinese Railway Technical Standards for Iran and Turkey."

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the design of high-speed railways, intercity railways, and heavy-haul railways as well as to the development and application of new technologies, Fan Jianguo has received numerous awards, including the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards for National Excellent Survey and Design, and the National Excellent Engineering Consulting Achievement Award. No one would have expected that such an expert, highly renowned in China's railway survey and design field, would treat every moment of tackling technical challenges not as a difficult problem but as an opportunity to surpass himself.

Full Devotion to the Survey and Design of the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway

During the interview, Fan Jianguo told reporters that the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway, which has been in formal operation for five years, not only achieves a 30-minute journey from Beijing to Tianjin, shortening the distance in time and space between the two cities, but also serves as a demonstration for building China's high-speed railway technical standards system.
