To build a successful enterprise, strong products must serve as the foundation, especially when the industry is not performing well.

　　In the sluggish environment of the construction machinery industry, Degong achieved counter-trend growth of 8.5%, becoming a bright spot in China's construction machinery industry. This achievement would not have been possible without the leading role of Degong's Technology Center.

　　2013 was Degong's year of innovation, and the Technology Center unquestionably shouldered the responsibility of leadership. Once the leader moved, the whole of Degong came alive and in motion.

　　Over the past year, the loader department of the Technology Center developed 5 new models and more than a dozen customized differentiated products, along with hundreds of product technical improvements; the road machinery department achieved serialization of road machinery, especially with the launch of mechanical cold recycling, which achieved successful application on China's high-grade highways and broke the monopoly of foreign equipment. The model recently passed national testing. These products and improvements played a strong role in stabilizing and advancing the company amid poor industry conditions, becoming the anchor and driver of Degong's profit growth. Designers from the two departments, along with the process department and standardization department, worked at high speed throughout the year—from drawing design, on-site assembly, off-line testing, and detail improvement to final market launch—every step bore the sweat of the design staff.

　　High workloads also require relaxation, and their relaxation meant going to the front lines of the market. Throughout the year, almost all key designers went into the market and integrated with customers, "grounding" themselves to feel the market pulse, breathing fresh air of "positive energy," and accepting well-intentioned criticism from customers. This kind of "relaxation" was actually about "tightening the spring"—thousands of kilometers of travel per person, all kinds of problems, and problem slideshows presented back at the factory recorded their gains and also recorded Degong's growth.

　　During the innovation year, Degong set a goal of reducing product failure rates by 40%. Although it is just a simple number, achieving it required tremendous effort. To this end, in addition to directly visiting the market to solicit opinions, the Technology Center also held two symposiums with sales personnel each year, convened irregular failure analysis meetings, and held monthly quality meetings, identifying the root causes of problems and thus finding solutions. In 2013, hundreds of improvements were made to hydraulic systems, working devices, electrical systems, and control systems, laying a solid foundation for achieving the annual goal.

　　Today, as the leader of Degong, the Technology Center has set its sights further ahead: continue to make loaders bigger and stronger, and continue to lead the industry in cold recyclers.
