EC350D型挖掘机配备了新型沃尔沃D8六缸发动机，强劲有力、性能出色、坚固耐用。这款机型配有垂直直列、电子控制高压燃油喷射器，外部冷却废气再循环系统(EGR)，带废气门的涡轮增压器和空对空中间冷却器。选配的额外油水分离器可以保护发动机，阻挡燃油中的杂质。与之前的发动机相比，D8发动机降低了多达10%的油耗。
