With the expansion of urban development, several major bridges have been completed over the Ancient Canal in recent years. Following the completion and opening of the Fuchai Bridge a few years ago, the New 328 National Highway Connector Bridge over the Ancient Canal was completed in 2013, and the Jiangdu Road North Extension Bridge over the Ancient Canal was recently completed. Yesterday brought more good news from the banks of the Ancient Canal: the Huayang East Road Bridge over the Ancient Canal is about to begin construction and is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic next year.

Yesterday, on the west bank of the Ancient Canal at Huayang East Road, the reporter saw a tall pile driver already standing on the open ground by the river, "everything is ready, just waiting to start work." According to reports, the Huayang East Road Bridge over the Ancient Canal is 335 meters long and 40 meters wide, with a 760-meter approach road, and is scheduled to be completed next year. Not far west of the bridge is Yangzijiang Road, which runs north-south through Yangzhou, and at the bridgehead are residential communities such as Fuchuan Ruiyuan.

About 1 kilometer north of the bridge is the Sanwan Bridge, and about 2 kilometers south is the Wuzhou Bridge. Once the bridge is completed, travel between the two banks will be more convenient.
