A new river-crossing bridge will be added over the Fenghua River between Xingning Bridge and Changfeng Bridge. Yesterday, construction began on the Chenglang Bridge and its connecting approach roads, which link the east and west sections of Yongda Road. According to the plan, the bridge will be completed by the end of next year.

The Chenglang Bridge and connecting road project starts at Chenglangyan Road, crosses the Fenghua River to the east, then passes over Jiangdong South Road, and after touching down ends at the south gate of the Shangri-La residential community, namely the existing Taoyuan Street. The route is about 702 meters long in total, and the bridge has a total length of 446 meters, of which the main bridge is 183 meters long with a clear width of 35 meters.

The approach bridge on the Haishu side is 90 meters long, and the approach bridge on the Jiangdong side is 173 meters long. The approach road on the Haishu side is about 68 meters long with a standard width of 41.5 meters; the main line of the approach road on the Jiangdong side is about 189 meters long with a standard width of 28.5 meters, and the ground auxiliary roads on both sides of the main line are each 235 meters long with a standard width of 10.25 meters. The total width of the main line plus ground auxiliary roads is 49 meters, with six motor vehicle lanes in both directions plus non-motor vehicle lanes and sidewalks, and a design speed of 40 kilometers per hour.

The main bridge of Chenglang Bridge is a half-through arch bridge, adopting a wind-brace-free half-through inward-inclined steel truss-steel box composite flat arch bridge. Two arch ribs are arranged transversely, located outside the sidewalks. The entire bridge has an innovative shape and smooth lines.

Yongda Road, which Chenglang Bridge connects to, starts from Airport Road in the west and ends at Century Avenue in the east. It is an important urban road linking Haishu District, Jiangdong District and Yinzhou District, and also a connection channel between the eastern part of the city and the South Railway Station hub and Lishe Airport.

Among them, the Yongda Road connecting line (Xiayu Road) of the Airport Expressway currently under construction starts from the Airport Expressway in the west and ends at the South Square of the New South Railway Station in the east, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2015; the already opened "dead-end road" Yongda Road (east side branch of Zhongxing Road - Canghai Road) project starts from the east side branch of Zhongxing Road in the west and ends at Canghai South Road in the east.

Once Chenglang Bridge and Yongda Road are completed, they will greatly improve the passenger dispersal capacity of Ningbo Railway Station and greatly facilitate traffic transfers among the East Railway Station, Ningbo Railway Station, the Coach Passenger Transport Center and Lishe Airport.
