据中联重科建筑起重机械公司副总经理喻乐康介绍，近年来，大型模块化施工技术成大型工程建设的首选模式。超大型塔机作为唯一能同时兼顾这几种性能指标的起重设备，成为了大型模块化施工不可或缺的关键装备。
近10年的研究中，项目组先后攻克了超长重载臂架设计及控制技术、重载超大容绳量卷扬系统设计及控制技术、超大型塔机安全作业技术等三大难题，形成了具自主知识产权的成套技术，实现了超大型塔机的规模化生产。以这三项技术为核心所开发的13款产品屡次创下了建筑领域的新纪录。
项目近3年创造直接经济效益10.23亿，获发明专利授权16项，实用新型37项，直接影响修订国家标准4项，系列产品多次被同行专家鉴定为“国际领先水平”。
