广西青年科技奖是面向广西青年科技工作者的一项奖励，每两年评选一次，每届获奖人数不超过30名。旨在培养造就一批进入国内科技前沿的学术和技术带头人，表彰奖励在自然科学研究领域取得创新性成就，在工程技术方面取得重大成果，在科学技术普及、科技成果推广转化、科技管理工作中取得优异成绩，为广西经济发展、社会进步作出突出贡献的青年科技人才。
刘剑一直主持柳工全系列挖掘机产品液压技术的开发应用工作，主持开发了公司多代小型挖掘机产品，对挖掘机液压技术有深入的研究。在他的主持下，柳工挖掘机产品液压技术水平始终处于行业先进行列，为整机高效、节能的作业奠定了坚实的基础。
