Environmental pollution is becoming increasingly severe, sounding an alarm for environmental protection. Currently, 70% of air pollution in China comes from the manufacturing industry, and the development of the remanufacturing industry offers the possibility to reduce pollution. As a recyclable model, remanufacturing is of great significance to the construction machinery industry. Especially now that China's construction machinery market has exceeded 6 million units, whether we can make full use of "remanufacturing" to better "digest" outdated equipment is not an illusory mirage for China's construction machinery development.

The remanufacturing industry has been developing in China for nearly 15 years. From initially facing numerous difficulties and hard-to-implement tasks, it has now gained widespread recognition and strong support from government agencies, industry sectors, and all walks of life, ushering in broad market prospects. China has entered the peak period of machinery and vehicle scrapping, and the development of the remanufacturing industry faces rare opportunities. According to estimates, there are over 2 million traditional old machine tools in service for more than 10 years nationwide, 80% of in-service machinery exceeds the warranty period, and about 5 million scrapped vehicles. If 10% of these are remanufactured, the output value will exceed 100 billion yuan, indicating huge potential.

Currently, there are generally two types of construction machinery remanufacturing in China: one is remanufacturing of components, and the other is remanufacturing of complete machines. In developed countries, construction machinery remanufacturing has already formed a certain scale and model and has become an integral part of their operations.

It is understood that the remanufacturing technologies adopted in Europe and America are mainly "replacement repair method and size repair method." For severely damaged parts, new parts are directly replaced; for lightly damaged parts, traditional machining methods such as turning, grinding, and boring are used to restore the geometric precision of the parts while changing their dimensions, and then they are paired with oversized non-standard new parts. This remanufacturing model is relatively simple but has obvious shortcomings, such as low remanufacturing rate of old parts and significant waste.

The remanufacturing model with Chinese characteristics builds on the European and American "replacement repair method and size repair method" by using "surface repair and performance enhancement method" as the main technical method for remanufacturing, while combining advanced technologies such as non-destructive testing, surface engineering, and cladding forming to restore the three-dimensional dimensions of parts and improve their overall performance.

Industry insiders say that China's remanufacturing rate can reach 70%-80%, while in Europe it is only 60%-70%. In the global remanufacturing field, we form a tripartite balance with Europe and the United States. Our remanufacturing technologies and products are trustworthy. Nevertheless, most domestic users have misunderstandings about remanufactured products, and confidence needs to be strengthened, so government procurement is needed to lead the green consumption concept.
