Say no to inferior projects

    Geotechnical engineering is an important branch of civil engineering and involves rock, soil, and groundwater, making construction safety assurance very important. According to 2012 statistics, Beijing has nearly 400 enterprises qualified in "foundation and substructure" and "engineering survey," with a total output value of about 30 billion yuan and about 40,000 employees.
    As output value and personnel scale continue to expand, some industry problems have also emerged, such as irregular bidding in the project contracting market, arbitrary delays in project payments, qualification affiliation, vicious price-cutting competition, enterprises' failure to respect intellectual property rights, and inadequate market supervision.
    A relevant person in charge of the Beijing Geotechnical Engineering Association introduced that, under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Civil Affairs Bureau, the association will more effectively avert potential construction engineering safety accidents and promote the healthy development of the industry by strengthening industry self-discipline, industry rights protection, industry coordination, industry services, and management.
