The city has completed the adjustment and closure of 288 polluting enterprises this year, with two cement plants under BBMG—Shunfa Cement and Pinggu Cement—halting production. Yesterday, the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology released the city's clean air industrial emission reduction status.

Liu Ming, deputy director of the Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Industry Division of the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, introduced that as of now, the city has completed the adjustment and closure of 288 polluting enterprises, exceeding the annual target of closing 200 polluting enterprises. The adjusted and closed polluting enterprises involve 11 industries including building materials, chemicals, furniture, and casting and forging. Among them, all construction waste sintered brick production lines in the building materials industry have been shut down, and emission reductions in the cement industry are notable. According to the "Beijing 2013–2017 Clean Air Action Plan," BBMG Group bears the important task of reducing cement production; Shunfa Cement and Pinggu Cement under BBMG have halted production, reducing cement capacity by 1.5 million tons and coal consumption by 110,000 tons. It is reported that about two-thirds of the 288 adjusted and closed enterprises have completely exited. The enterprises adjusted and closed this time are mostly small and medium-sized enterprises, which have little impact on the economy and instead free up more land and resources.

Zheng Zaihong, deputy director of the Pollution Prevention and Control Division of the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, introduced that the city will strictly conduct environmental protection verification of listed companies and standardize the issuance of environmental compliance certificates. This year, for the first time, environmental violation information has been incorporated into the enterprise credit information database of the People's Bank of China, and enterprises with environmental violations will be disqualified from applying for preferential value-added tax policies for comprehensive utilization. These two new measures are intended to increase the cost of violations and promote enterprises to improve their environmental management levels.
