“现在图书馆藏书仅是每年更新一些，暂能保证需求。但是，部分图书馆较陈旧，藏书内容也不是特别丰富，至少无法完全满足科研、各专业人士使用。”
该馆办公室工作人员告诉记者，未来福州海峡图书馆，预计藏书能力为500万册，阅览座位3000个。
福州海峡图书馆内置设施首次“曝光”。图书馆将设有24小时自助借还系统和3000个阅览室。
“在新大楼中，最新的系统或许要数24小时自助借还系统。该系统将为市民提供自助借还书服务。目前还没看到该系统，但从外省的24小时自助系统得知，市民可在任何时间轻松地将图书归还给图书馆。”据一知情人士透露，福州海峡图书馆的24小时自助系统也大同小异。
