On January 12, the groundbreaking ceremony for XCMG's heavy truck production base was held in the Xuzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone, officially launching construction. In the view of Wang Min, Chairman of XCMG, the industry downturn is bringing development opportunities to XCMG: "Although the current heavy truck market is relatively sluggish, this is an equipment industry with a huge existing market and great development prospects."

Since the beginning of this year, XCMG first invested 500 million yuan to establish Xuzhou XCMG Finance Co., Ltd.; later it invested 200 million yuan in investment business. On April 20, when XCMG Group announced the acquisition of the globally renowned concrete equipment leader Schwing Group of Germany, XCMG Chairman Wang Min said in an interview with reporters: "We pursue a development strategy of being 'aggressive yet steady.' The best is yet to come for XCMG."

In mid-September, Chairman Wang Min accepted a special invitation from China National Radio and completed the recording of the column "Reporting China's Economy," becoming the only entrepreneur from the industry selected.

Since November, a large-scale documentary depicting the development history of China's manufacturing industry, "Super Equipment of a Great Power," has attracted nationwide attention. In it, Mr. Wang Min, Chairman of XCMG, recalled a scene from the past and told a story from the mid-1990s. He said that at the time many foreign companies looked down on Chinese enterprises, so he secretly made a vow to himself that China must have a place at the pinnacle of the construction machinery industry.

At the 2013 CCTV Finance Forum in December, Wang Min said that China's construction machinery industry in its early days could be described as being in rags. It has been able to develop to where it is today entirely because of the technical personnel who stayed committed to this industry at that time.

On December 7, the "8th National Advanced Productivity Theory and Practice Achievement Awards" were announced in Beijing. Comrade Wang Min, Chairman and Party Secretary of XCMG Group and Chairman and President of XCMG Machinery, was honored with the "National Outstanding Figure in Advanced Productivity Award." At the 4th Jiangsu Province Outstanding Entrepreneur Commendation Conference held in Nanjing, Wang Min was awarded the title of "Jiangsu Province Outstanding Entrepreneur."
