18 Major and Medium Bridges Erected on Hainan Tunqiong Expressway, Bridge Pile Foundations 99% Complete

Bridge erection on the Tunqiong Expressway has now entered a critical phase, with 18 major and medium bridges completed. In just over a year, the 46-kilometer Tunqiong Expressway will open to traffic.
　　Data provided by Hainan Zhongjiao Expressway Investment and Construction Co., Ltd. shows that as of the end of November, bridge pile foundations on the Tunqiong Expressway were 99% complete, bridge piers and columns 88% complete, precast bridge girders and slabs 68% complete, and girder and slab erection 37% complete.
　　“After a year and a half of construction, subgrade work on the Tunqiong Expressway is now nearing completion, and we are currently organizing construction teams to carry out full-scale bridge erection, aiming to finish before the end of the first quarter next year,” said a relevant person in charge of the company.
　　During a recent visit to the construction site of Zhonglang No. 1 Bridge on the Haitun Expressway, near Maotang Village, Zhonglang Village Committee, Wanling Town, Qiongzhong, the reporter saw bridge workers busy erecting girder segments. “This bridge is 220 meters long in total and requires more than 80 girder segments. Erection began on December 6, averaging three segments per day. It is expected to be completed in about a month,” said Chen Fang, a bridge worker from Guizhou.
　　Chen Fang said the current bridge erection machines are highly automated, and the entire process of lifting and lowering girders can be completed using a handheld remote control.
　　During interviews along the route, the reporter saw that erection was being stepped up at Zhonglang No. 1 Bridge, Shanliao Bridge, Nanlü No. 4 Bridge, Nanlü No. 3 Bridge and Liangshi Medium Bridge. Bridge erection crews generally consist of only four people, with two transporting girders and two erecting them.
　　A relevant person in charge of Hainan Zhongjiao Expressway Investment and Construction Co., Ltd. said that the Tunqiong Expressway has a total of 36 major and medium bridges (over 100 meters in length). Erection began in April this year, and 18 major and medium bridges, including Dabianhe Bridge, Shishuiling Bridge, Jiachai Bridge and Zhonglang No. 2 Bridge, have now been completed. In addition, some small bridges have also been erected.
