本次年会由中国机械工程学会、合肥市政府联合主办，以“创新驱动发展，建设制造强国”为主题。开幕式上，与会领导分别为“中国机械工业科学技术奖”等奖项颁奖。年会上，路甬祥、周济分别作了题为《“中国制造”的未来》《实施“中国制造2020”，进入制造强国行列》的主旨报告，既分析“中国制造”的使命、全球制造的发展，又对“中国制造”的未来发展提出诸多建设性意见。全国机械领域顶级专家邵新宇、王国彪、陈学东，围绕数字化工厂、机械工程基础研究、压力容器设计制造等话题，与全国及日韩500余名专家、学者、企业家展开深入交流。会议期间，还先后举行了绿色制造科技成果交流会、中国机械工程学会年会·青年论坛、中日韩机械工程技术论坛、工程机械液压技术论坛、科普大讲堂等多项活动。
