Department Introduction

    The School of Civil Engineering of Zhengzhou University originated from the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Zhengzhou University in 1958. It currently has four departments: Architectural Engineering, Building Environment Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Underground Construction Engineering, and one comprehensive civil engineering experimental center. There are 140 faculty and staff members, including 31 professors (professors of engineering), 45 associate professors (senior engineers), and 110 faculty members with doctoral degrees; 20 doctoral supervisors and 107 master's supervisors; 3 members of the Teaching Steering Committee of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, 1 leading talent of the National Ten Thousand Talents Program, 3 national candidates of the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project, 1 Zhongyuan Scholar, 1 New Century Excellent Talent of the Ministry of Education, 2 Zhongyuan Science and Technology Innovation Leading Talents, 2 Zhongyuan Young Top-notch Talents, 4 recipients of the Henan Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund, 2 recipients of the Henan Provincial Excellent Youth Fund, 4 recipients of the Henan Provincial Youth Science and Technology Award, 1 lecture professor of Henan Provincial Higher Education Institutions, and 2 Henan Provincial Teaching Models.

The school has a postdoctoral mobile station in the first-level discipline of Civil Engineering, a doctoral degree authorization point in the first-level discipline of Civil Engineering, covering 4 doctoral degree authorization points in second-level disciplines (Structural Engineering, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering and Protective Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Bridge and Tunnel Engineering), and a doctoral professional degree authorization point in Transportation. It has a master's degree authorization point in the first-level discipline of Civil Engineering, a master's degree authorization point in the first-level discipline of Management Science and Engineering, and a master's degree authorization point in the first-level discipline of Transportation Engineering, covering 7 master's degree authorization points in second-level disciplines (Structural Engineering, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering and Protective Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Bridge and Tunnel Engineering, Road and Railway Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, and Heating, Gas Supply, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering), and a master's professional degree authorization point in Civil and Hydraulic Engineering.

The school offers 4 undergraduate programs: Civil Engineering, Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Urban Underground Space Engineering. Among them, Civil Engineering, Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, and Transportation Engineering have passed the national higher education civil engineering professional education evaluation (certification). The Civil Engineering program has been selected into the national first-class undergraduate program construction sequence, and the other three programs have been selected into the Henan Provincial first-class program construction sequence. In 2011, it was selected into the first batch of "Excellent Engineer Training Program Pilot" universities of the Ministry of Education, and the provincial "Comprehensive Professional Reform Pilot", and was rated as "Provincial Characteristic Specialty" and "University-level Famous Brand Specialty". In 2021, it won the Henan Provincial Advanced Collective for Textbook Construction (Education and Ideology [2021] No. 144).
