College of Civil Engineering and Architecture

        The College of Civil Engineering and Architecture currently consists of the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Architecture, the Department of Regional and Urban Planning, and the Department of Hydraulic Engineering. Civil Engineering is a national key first-level discipline, while Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering are national key second-level disciplines. The college has postdoctoral research stations in Civil Engineering and Hydraulic Engineering.

      The college hosts the National International Joint Research Center for Marine Civil Engineering, the Key Laboratory of Soft Soils and Geoenvironmental Engineering of the Ministry of Education, the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Space Structures, and other six provincial and ministerial-level research bases (including co-built ones), a national-level virtual simulation experimental teaching center for civil engineering, two university-level experimental centers for civil and hydraulic engineering and for architecture and urban planning technology, as well as 20 research institutes (centers).

      The college has formed a high-level faculty team led by academicians, with Changjiang Scholars and Distinguished Young Scholars as the backbone, and Excellent Young Scholars and top-notch innovative talents as the new force.

      The college has a history of over 90 years. Through more than 90 years of development and growth, the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture has accumulated strong teaching and research capabilities, forged a spirit of advocating science, exploring truth, gathering masters, and pursuing excellence, and developed a philosophy of dedicated teaching, solid research, seizing development opportunities, aiming for international first-class standards, and serving national construction.

      The college has clearly defined its development approach: "discipline construction as the leader, teaching and research as the center, talent engineering as the foundation, and research services as the support." Based on the actual needs of national development and construction, it carries out scientific research, talent cultivation, social service, and cultural inheritance, oriented towards society, the world, and the future.

The College of Civil Engineering and Architecture is one of the earliest established colleges at Zhejiang University. It originated from the civil engineering discipline founded in 1927, rooted in the academic fertile soil pioneered by older-generation scholars such as Wu Zhongwei, Xu Zhilun, Qian Lingxi, Liu Huixian, Zhang Shusen, Li Enliang, Pan Jiazheng, and Zeng Guoxi. After 90 years of development, the college has produced numerous talents and elites, with alumni all over the world, making significant contributions to China's talent cultivation, scientific research, and engineering construction.
