Chain Cutter Trench Cutter TRD4585 for Underground Diaphragm Wall Construction

TRD4585

The TRD method, also known as the constant-thickness cement-soil underground continuous mixing wall method, works on the basic principle of driving a chainsaw-type cutter box vertically into the ground and then moving it horizontally, while the chain drives the cutters in an up-and-down rotary motion to mix the in-situ soil and inject cement slurry, forming a water-stop wall of a certain strength and constant thickness. Developed in Japan in the early 1990s, the TRD method is a complete set of advanced equipment and construction methods capable of forming a continuous wall in various soil layers and gravel layers. It is mainly applied in foundation reinforcement and seepage prevention for various building projects, underground works, revetment works, dams, and dikes.

Product Description

The TRD method is suitable for cohesive soil, sandy soil, sand-gravel and gravel layers, and also has good applicability in dense sand layers with SPT blow counts of 50–60 and in soft rock with unconfined compressive strength not greater than 5 MPa. It can be widely used in ultra-deep water-stop curtains, steel-reinforced cement-soil mixing walls, trench wall reinforcement for diaphragm walls, and other fields.The TRD construction process includes: the self-driving excavation of the cutter box, the construction of the cement-soil mixing wall, and the extraction and disassembly of the cutter box. The construction of the TRD cement-soil mixing wall has a three-cycle method and a one-cycle method: in the three-cycle method (advance excavation, retreat excavation, wall-forming mixing), the chainsaw-type cutter box first injects excavation fluid and excavates a certain distance, then retreats and excavates back to the original position, and then injects curing fluid and advances while mixing to form the wall; this is generally used in deep walls, cobble-gravel layers, or working conditions with underground obstacles. In the one-cycle method, the cutter box injects curing fluid from the start and advances while excavating and mixing to form the wall. The basis for choosing the three-cycle or one-cycle method is whether the transverse travel speed of the cutter box can be ensured to reach 1.7 m/hr.

Product Details

The TRD method has the following features:

1. It is suitable for cohesive soil, sandy soil, sand-gravel and gravel layers, and also has good applicability in dense sand layers with SPT values of 30–60 and in soft rock with saturated uniaxial compressive strength not exceeding 10 MPa;

2. The wall depth can reach 70 m, and the verticality deviation is not greater than 1/250 (when used for reinforcing the inner and outer trench walls of a diaphragm wall, the TRD verticality deviation is required to be not greater than 1/300);

3. The wall thickness is 550–950 mm;

4. The cement-soil is uniformly mixed, with unconfined compressive strength of 0.5–2.5 MPa;

5. The wall has good water-blocking performance, and the permeability coefficient in sandy soil can reach 1x10-6 cm/s to 10-7 cm/s;

6. The inserted core materials can be arranged at uniform equal spacing, making the stiffness of the retaining structure more uniform;

7. The maximum height of the construction machinery generally does not exceed 12 m, and the construction frame has a low center of gravity and good stability.
