At around 10 a.m. on February 24, an explosion was heard from the Dazhushan Tunnel, marking the “first blast” for work resumption in Section 2 of the Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou Expressway East Extension project. It is understood that all sections of the project have successively started construction, and full resumption is expected by the end of the month.

At the tunnel construction site, many workers have already been engaged in intensive construction. “To speed up post-holiday work resumption, the contractor prepared the blasting plan in advance and encouraged workers to return to their posts as early as possible. Currently, about 150 workers have returned to work in this section.” According to reports, to ensure the blasting work could proceed as scheduled, the contractor actively coordinated with the local public security department, promptly tracked and properly completed the explosives approval procedures.

The Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou Expressway East Extension has five tunnels along its entire route, and Section 2 includes two tunnels: the Dazhushan Tunnel and the Fengtaishan Tunnel. Among them, the Dazhushan Tunnel is the second longest tunnel on the entire route, with a left tube 1,965 meters long and a right tube 1,995 meters long. The tunnel is designed according to future traffic volume, adopting a dual-tube, one-way, three-lane configuration. This year, the tunnel construction of Section 2 will enter the “fast lane,” and the Fengtaishan Tunnel within the section is expected to be holed through by the end of this year.

It is reported that in addition to the Dazhushan Tunnel, construction has officially begun at multiple work faces of the Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou Expressway East Extension project, including the Fengtaishan Tunnel, the Yaoxi Tunnel and the Yaoxi No. 2 Bridge. All project management personnel are in place, and 258 workers are on site. All participating units are actively carrying out preparations such as post-holiday safety education, epidemic prevention and control, and site organization.

The Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou Expressway East Extension starts on the west side of Wenrui Avenue at the Nanbaixiang Interchange in Ouhai District, with a total length of 22.046 kilometers. It is an extension of the Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou Expressway and also a transverse connecting line between the Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou Expressway and its duplicate line. As an important part of one horizontal line in Wenzhou City’s “two vertical, two horizontal, two connecting and one ring” expressway network, the construction of the Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou Expressway East Extension project is of great significance for improving Zhejiang Province’s regional comprehensive transportation network, promoting the development of the Wenzhou Oujiangkou industrial cluster, and building the Wenzhou metropolitan area.
